July 2017 Meeting

‘Blood & Tissues Donation’
with Karen Hall, NHS Blood & Transplant Service

Tuesday 18th July 2017

Thank you to Karen Hall from the NHS Blood & Transplant based in Speke, for giving us a very informative and insightful talk about tissue donation.

It was interesting to learn that ‘Tissue Donation’ has increased vastly in the last 12 months.  The most popular tissue donated is ‘cornea’ to help restore sight but other tissues include skin, tendons, bones and heart valves.

There were excellent questions and discussion at the end of Karen’s session and even the suggestion to put ‘Tissue Donation’ forward for a future resolution to raise awareness – watch this space!

You don’t have to sign up to be a donor, you need only to make your wishes known to a family member but if you would like to find out further information, please contact the team at Tissue Donation on 0800 432 0559 and a Specialist Nurse will return your call.

Thank you again Karen, for a very educational evening and lots to think about!
