Gill Burns, MBE
Women’s Rugby Union Legend
At our October meeting we welcomed Women’s Rugby Ambassador, Gill Burns, MBE.
Born and bred in Prescot, Gill inspired us with her rugby journey, although rugby was not her first sport, playing basket ball and hockey initially. Gill was the founder member of the women’s rugby team at Waterloo Rugby Club and represented England between 1988 and 2002 and Captaining her country between 1994-1999.
Gill went on to play in four World Cups and now regularly commentates for Sky Sports and has now pursued a career in teaching.
